The atkins diet was created by Dr. Atkins in the early nineties and till now it is considered to be one of the best diets ever created. The reason people are impressed by this regime is that it not only offers people a way to loose weight, but it also offers a way for them ensure that they do not gain back any weight that they had lost. The diet has two main phases and when followed well can produce spectacular results.
The first phase of the Atkins diet is usually the elimination of high carbs foods from one’s diet and replacing them with high fat and protein foods. However, the fats need to be hydrogenated oils or trans fats. For example, rice, pasta and bread can be replaced with chicken, fish, and eggs and so on. However, due to the removal of carbohydrates, a person will mostly feel tired and lethargic in this period but it will pass.
The second phase is known as the maintenance phase and here carbs are gradually reintroduced to the body carefully. The aim of the phase is to ensure that a person eats food to supply the energy needed and not gain any additional weight. So, the Atkins diet is great because it helps a person to lose weight and keep it off for good.
